Job Details:

Job Summary:
A social worker will work with patients to help them overcome and manage their different mental and emotional challenges. The social worker will regularly meet with patients to listen to their problems, build and encourage patients to follow their treatment plans and goals to help improve their mental wellbeing and coping strategies for the patient to follow.
They’ll record the patient’s progress throughout each session and will teach the patient about the most effective coping mechanisms to help overcome their mental health challenges.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Offer interpretation services during consultations by the persons of concern
• Plan and oversee the delivery of the counselling services to families, in a nondiscriminatory manner.
• To provide group counselling/psychotherapeutic service including post-natal depression groups.
• Establish follow up plans to ensure patients are fully supported to recovery
• Educate staff and clients on stress and trauma coping mechanisms.
• Provide individuals with the resources they need to reach personal goals.
• Observe and be seen to observe confidentiality
• Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services.
• Complete continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on the latest practices.
• To develop the counselling service in line with expressed need in consultation with the Medical Doctor and Administrators
• Attend relevant professional and programmatic meetings
• Support staff and users in developing a work place which provides a warm and friendly atmosphere.
• In consultation with a medical staff conduct home visitation to referred families where relevant so that decisions are made jointly.
• Liaise with a full range of relevant professionals in social work, health, education and voluntary agencies, in order to co-ordinate services for families and to raise awareness of counselling services

QUALIFICATIONS
• A minimum of a diploma in social sciences, Development studies, counselling and guidance or similar disciplines from a recognized institution
• At least one year’s experience in similar position.

Languages:
