Job Details:
1.0 Background
The Ministry of Education and Sports in liaison with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received a request of Twenty One (21) Secondary School teachers for employment by the Government of Seychelles.
The Ministry is therefore, inviting interested parties to apply for the positions as stated below;

Reports To: Head teacher
Station: Republic of Seychelles
Duration: 24 months (Every two (2) years the contract holder and his/her spouse up to two (2) children under 18 years receive a free return air passage back home).
Purpose of the Job
In accordance with the Education (Amendment) Act, 2017, the primary purpose of the post is to plan and execute lesson plans, adapt learning methods to each student’s learning assess and report on students’ progress, counsel students, challenge and inspire them, help them learn how to use their knowledge and integrate it in their lives so that they become valuable members of the society. They are to meet standards of professional and ethical conduct and approved frameworks in relation to students, colleagues and parents. They are to maintain positive, supportive professional relationship within the education community.
2.0 Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Planning, teaching and learning process
• Encourage students in the pursuit of knowledge and teach them diligently and faithfully
• Teach courses of study that are approved or authorized under the Education (Amendment) Act, 2017;
• Be accountable for the course of study (period of implementation) and the performance of students thereto;
• Teach between 28 and 32 periods of 40 minutes per week;
• Plan and deliver lessons appropriate to the ability level of the students;
• Monitor students’ progress systematically;
• Make effective use of essential resources to facilitate students’ learning;
• Evaluate own planning and delivery of lessons;
• Observe the protocol and standards governing planning, teaching and learning process.
• Assessment evaluation, recording and reporting
• Assess and record the development, progress and performance of students in the manner approved by the educational institution
Salary: USD 7,834.4 (pa) depending on the level of qualification and experience plus an inducement allowance of USD 1,600 (pa) and a supplementation allowance of USD 388 or UDS 391.72 (pa)
Other Benefits:
• Excess baggage allowance up to 25 Kilos for the first time and 45 kilos upon completion of the contract;
• The contract holder and his/her family pays USD 1.66 for consultation but medication is free at public clinics;
• The contract holder has to bear full cost for consultation and medication at private clinics. These costs are not refundable by Ministry of Education
3.0 Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in relevant subject plus PGCE
• An honors Bachelor’s degree of Education from a recognized University/ Institution
• Three (3) years teaching experience at International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) / General Certificate in Education (GCE) ‘0’ Level
4.0 Medical Report
A successful candidate will be required to submit full medical examination report before being appointed.
5.0 Working Conditions
Working hours will be approximately 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. All other terms and conditions will be as per the Employment Regulations of the Republic of Seychelles.
