Responsibilities and Duties
• General
• Reports to shift on time.
• Contributes to devotional time prior to surgery.
• Demonstrates a positive rapport and cooperative work relationship with associates.
• Displays a willingness to learn new skills, concepts, etc.
• Demonstrates a caring, Christ-like attitude toward staff, patients, and their families.
• Communicates effectively with other disciplines within the facility to ensure a continuum of patient care.
• Follows instructions when given by anesthesia provider.
• Maintains confidentiality of all CURE patient records and only discusses patient data that is pertinent to the involved health care provider.
• Demonstrates respect for all patients regardless of tribal origin, gender, race, religion, disease process, or financial status.
• Specific
• Sets up and cleans up for each anesthetic-specific for the case (age & procedure).
• Restocks anesthesia cart as needed every day.
• Assesses anesthesia stock items that are utilized and reorders in a timely fashion.
• Maintains and handles O2 and N2O tanks in a safe manner.
• Reorders O2 and N2O in a timely fashion.
• Notifies anesthesia director of problems with restocking items.
• Assists with induction and emergence of anesthesia.
• Assists as needed with daily routines of the OR as directed by anesthesia provider or Director of OR.
• Checks and monitors anesthesia machines for any damage as well as weekly cleaning of the machines.
• Enters stock summaries into the anesthesia data form on the computer in the OR.
• Helps to transfer patients back to the ward whenever need arises.
• Seeks new learning experiences and shows a desire to learn new skills.
• Spiritual Ministry
• Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry programs.
• Occupation Health and Safety
• All staff are expected to work in such a way that does not cause injury to themselves, other staff members or customers.
• Following & complying with H&S policies, processes & applying them to their own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
• Participating in activities directed at preventing harm & promoting well-being in the workplace Identifying, reporting & self-managing hazards where appropriate.
• Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.
• Other duties
• Other official related duties that may be assigned by Supervisor.
Essential Qualifications
• Completed Certificate in Medical Anesthesia Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
• Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council
• Ability to handle or process confidential documents or material in an appropriate manner
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities, and work independently
• Computer literacy an added advantage
• Essential Skills
• Attention to detail, physical stamina to stand for long periods, ability to manage stress
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
• Maintains open communication with members of various levels of management.
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Good oral and written communication and presentation skills
• High level planning and organizational skills including efficient and effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.

• Essential Experience and knowledge
• At least one-year experience as anesthetic technician or demonstrated ability and desire to learn and embrace new ideas.
