In partnership with Embassy of Ireland, Doctors with Africa CUAMM is starting a health intervention in Karamoja titled: "Strengthening district health systems for improved access to and utilisation of quality RMNCAH services in Karamoja (2021 - 2023)." This intervention will scale up and/ or complement ongoing efforts in strengthening district health systems.
The project has the following outputs:
1. Improved capacity of DHMT for data driven, evidence-based analysis, prioritization, planning and monitoring of RMNCAH and HIV integrated services;
2. Improved capacity for collection, storage, distribution and use of safe blood and blood components in the promotion of MNCH;
3. Improved functionality of neonatal care units in three hospitals:
4. Improved health provider clinical competence and skills in delivering RMNCAH, GBV and HIV integrated services;
5. Improved adolescent health interventions including uptake of modern contraceptive among sexually active adolescent and prevention of teenage pregnancies;
6. Improved community based care and bi-directional community facility linkages for integrated RMNCAH and HIV services.
Reproductive, Maternal Neonatal Officers (2 positions in Karamoja)
Function: To provide capacity building to health centre staff (especially midwifes) in the management of labour and emergencies in labour including new born care for sick and healthy neonates. Ensure the setup of functional new born corners. Availability of job aides and reference materials. Organise trainings and mentorship schedules for MNH. Work with Assistant DHO maternal child health to ensure presence of a plan to support the health facilities through supervision and mentorship. Job requirements: Diploma in Nursing /Midiferyl Clinical Officer /Social worker with minimum 2 years' experience in RMNCAH/HIV Programming (particularly adolescent health). Demonstrated knowledge of current RMNCAH/HIV policy guidelines, including the differentiated service delivery arrangements using peers to promote uptake and retention in care.
